This year’s Upperby Gala is set to be a great family day out with entertainment to suit all ages.
The programme for the popular community gala will include a packed programme of fun activities and, this year, visitors will be encouraged to bring and share a picnic and be part of a community Big Lunch, supported by the Friends of Hammond’s Pond. The Big Lunch brings millions of people together across the UK to share food and fun on the first weekend in June. People are the key ingredient, and everyone is invited because great things happen when we meet and chat over a bite to eat. For more information about the Big Lunch, visit www.carlislepartnership.carlisle.city/Big-Lunch-Carlisle.
Organised by Carlisle City Council, Upperby Gala, will provide fun for all the family on Bank Holiday Monday (27 May), between 1pm and 4pm.
The free event will be held at Hammond’s Pond. This year’s programme will include performances by Carlisle Dance Academy, the Bjamba Band, the Cumberland Hotshots, the Maniax family comedy show, the Big Fun Bus and the Fairly Famous Family will go Football Crazy!
There will also be a vintage vehicle display and hands on activities from Carlisle College and Tullie House.
Local charity stalls will be in place and there will be chance to sample sports activities and taster yoga sessions.
Other activities include children’s entertainers, a fun fair, an owl magic display, a model railway, face painters, balloon modelling, Police, Fire Service and Army Careers, plus a Fun Dog Show organised by Cumbria Pride.
The Upperby Gala has free admission and will open between 1pm and 4pm. Food stalls will be providing refreshments throughout the event.
