A Carlisle man has pleaded guilty to a charge of causing criminal damage at the Spar shop on Petteril Bank Road, Harraby Carlisle on January 14.
Magistrates in Carlisle heard how Nathan James Foster, 27, of Burnett Road, Carlisle entered the store and kicked a display of toilet rolls over and then leaned over towards the counter and “bit” the till monitor, causing £525 damage.
Mark Shepherd defending said, Foster was in a “pitiful “ state at the time, he had alcohol problems and wasn’t functioning properly, he was in an “alcohol induced haze” when he went into the store.
Magistrates imposed a fine of £120 and prosecution costs of £85 with a victims surcharge of £30, plus compensation to the Spar store of £525.
