Brewery gets giddy and goes local

The Brewery gets Giddy with the Vats Bar revamp and Free House status

The Brewery Arts Centre now has Free House status so visitors to the arts centre will be able to enjoy more locally-sourced produce across the food and drink offering, including local ales from local brewers at local prices.

Kerry Gossio, Catering Manager is enthusiastic about bringing local produce to the fore in the Brewery’s catering and is also introducing the Brewery’s very own locally-brewed ale: Vats Atomic Blond.

Kerry commented: “I am planning to introduce more locally-sourced produce into our menu along with more local-brewed ales onto the bar. We are sourcing locally-distilled gins and spirits and we are planning more events in our Vats Bar. Incorporating the Grainstore Restaurant into the Vats Bar we are creating one space to dine and enjoy delicious food in a comfortable environment with friends and family.”

The Vats Bar and restaurant are closed on 20 May until 22 May for the redesign. The Brewery plans on creating a welcoming and friendly environment in which to relax before a gig or enjoy something delicious from the menu, with an array of comfortable sofas and relaxed areas to drink and eat. On the walls, an injection of colour with art from local abstract artist Aimee Green founder of Giddy Art.

Abstract artist Aimee’s work was selected due to the composition and vibrancy of her inspired creations. Her paintings will inject a breath of exhilaration and energy into the existing Brewery space, with around eight large canvas chosen to adorn the walls for the next six months. The Brewery hopes the initiative will be a great success and in the future be able to offer another artist the opportunity to exhibit in the popular space. Giddy Art’s work will be on sale to Brewery customers and available to purchase through the Box Office.

Aimee Green said: “I am giddy about exhibiting my work at the Brewery, especially in such a prominent area as the Vats Bar. The Brewery is such a vibrant venue attracting a huge array of customers and Giddy Art will add a wonderful injection of colour. I am looking forward to seeing my work displayed so prominently on the Brewery walls.”

Aimee’s work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions across London, Lancashire, West Yorkshire and Cumbria. She has corporate and private collectors throughout the UK. More recently Aimee has loaned out some of her pieces to the BBC for a series called Million Pound Menu, aired in 2018. Currently exhibiting at Arteria in Lancaster, Bumblebee Gallery in Kendal and the National Trust shops throughout Cumbria.

The Brewery Arts Centre is the place to go for entertainment in Kendal, renowned for its events and festivals and now for fantastic locally sourced food and ales at local prices.

Giddy Art can be purchased at the Brewery Arts Centre Box Office in person, by phone on 01539 725133.
