Horse rescued from cattle grid

Two fire engines from Workington and Whitehaven were mobilising to Kinniside to reports of a horse stuck in a cattle grid.

Fire crews were called at 5:45am today, Friday 17 May.

A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Firefighters released the horse from the cattle grid using cutters, spreaders and large animal rescue equipment.

“Fire crews were on scene for approximately one hour and fifteen minutes.”
