Police were called at 2.15pm today (May 21) to a report of a man having been stabbed at Brakeside Gardens, Whitehaven.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “A man, 61, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is in police custody.
“The injured man, 43, has been flown by air ambulance to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.
“A larger than normal police presence is expected to be in the area as investigations are carried out.
“Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, has any information or has yet to come forward to make contact with police.”
