The volunteers at St Bees RNLI were called to a yacht in difficulty at 5:50pm Tuesday 28 May.
As the volunteers at St Bees RNLI were arrivingĀ for their regular Tuesday evening training they were requested by Belfast Coastguard to go to the aid of a 27 foot yacht with engine failure.
The lifeboat soon made contact with the yacht, which was unable to make its way to Whitehaven Harbour unaided. A towline was attached and St Bees lifeboat then completed a slow but successfully tow into Whitehaven Harbour.
St Bees lifeboats operations manager Dick Beddows said: “When going to sea always make sure you have everything required to reach your destination safely.”
