Over 600 Year 6 children from 21 primary schools across Allerdale and Copeland will attend the Jobs in Our Community event to be held at Lakes College on Wednesday 19th of June.
Funded by the Cumbria Community Foundation and organised by Inspira, the event is aimed at introducing children in Year 6 to the world of work, helping them understand the wide variety of jobs available in a wide range of sectors which will help them to start the process of thinking about their future career paths.
Sue Lamb, Deputy Area Operations Manager for Inspira, said “We hope to stimulate ideas and help to raise their aspirations through the interaction with employers which will provide the young people with a flavour of the world of work.”
Throughout the day the event is run in three sessions and is made possible through the support of local employers from across the County who covering employment sectors such as engineering, science, hospitality, construction, public services, sport, finance and health.
“We are looking to another successful event and are very grateful for the support of local businesses, who understand the value of events such as this and give up their time freely,” continued Sue Lamb. “Feedback from past events has been very positive.”
