An illustrated talk at Barrow Archives in Barrow Library
The Sankeys were a father and son duo who documented life in Barrow and Cumbria between 1890-1970s, capturing the landscape, cultural changes, individuals, industry and tourism of the area.
The postcards they created were posted all over the world! The collection is vast, containing 15,000 glass plate and sheet negatives and 20 original postcard index books.
Geoff Holme will give an illustrated talk on the collection and show a short film created by Signal Film and Media for their Heritage Lottery Fund bid to digitise the negatives and make the images available to the public.
All are welcome. The event is free but please book a place Email: [email protected] Phone 01229 407377
