A new West Cumbria Artistic Network has been established in West Cumbria. Artists in the network will be taking part in a Cumbria wide art trail and open studios event 15th to 23rd June 2019. Artists will be showing their work in venues across West Cumbria, bringing art to the heart of the community.
During the first two weeks in July 2019, and coinciding with Woolfest and Cockermouth Live, the community art trail ‘Meanders’ will be held in Cockermouth. Here artists showcase their work in retail shop windows, bringing art and colour to the high street. After the success of last year’s Meanders event it will run for two weeks. The theme is West Coast, focusing on our amazing environment, industry and heritage.
Maggi Toner-Edgar one of the directors & founder of the West Cumbria Artistic Network said, ‘this is a great collaboration. West Cumbria artists work in rural & remote locations, & we can provide opportunities to showcase their talent. We want to celebrate the West Coast in the theme of this years event, and the intention is to include retailers & townspeople as much as possible.’
