Two arrested after man seriously injured in Whitehaven attack

Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Whitehaven in the early hours of this morning (June 14).

Officers were called to College Street at 3.22am.

A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “A man, 30, from West Yorkshire, had suffered serious head injuries.

“He was taken to the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven. He is to be transferred this morning to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle.

“Two men, aged 44 and 35, have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.”

Officers are appealing for anybody who witnessed anything that might be relevant to the inquiry to contact 101, referring to log 31 of June 14.
