Police have made a further arrest following an assault which occurred on College Street, Whitehaven, on the 14th June.
Officers were called to the incident at 3.22am.
A 30-year-old man from West Yorkshire, suffered serious head injuries.
He remains the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, in a stable condition.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “A 23-year-old-man from Whitehaven, has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. He remains in police custody.
“Two men, aged 44 and 35, who were arrested on the 14th June, on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, have been released under investigation.”
