Nurse Cadet students at Lakes College donned their aprons and took part in Alzheimer’s Society’s Cupcake Day baking and selling their delicious creations to help raise money for the charity.
In the average time it takes to bake a batch of cakes, six people in the UK will develop dementia. It is now the leading cause of death in England and Wales, overtaking both cancer and heart disease.
The Nurse Cadets chose to support the event baking and decorating a range of delicious treats selling them to fellow students and members of the college team and offering games including guess the weight of the cake (and win the cake!)
Their kindness and efforts managed to raise over an incredible £230 which will go straight to the Alzheimer’s Society and help fund pioneering research, crucial support services and pioneering care.
