Officers investigating the death of a 70-year-old man at an address on Provincial Street in Barrow yesterday, have received a Magistrates’ Court extension allowing detectives further time to interview a man arrested on suspicion of murder.
Cumbria Police were contacted by NWAS at around 6.40pm to a report of a man having suffered a serious injuries at an address.
The injured man had suffered serious injuries to his throat and chest and was declared dead at the scene.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “Officers applied for and received a 36-hour extension today (19 June).
“The arrested man, aged 28, remains in police custody.
“The deceased has this evening been identified as 70-year-old John MacMillan.”
