The Rheged Food & Drink Show 2019 aims to celebrate the finest producers in Cumbria and the North – promoting themes of local, sustainable, high quality, innovative and authentic food and drinks. The brand new show takes place at Rheged, Penrith on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th September 2019, and is open 10am – 4pm each day.
In the main event halls, visitors will be able to taste and shop products from handpicked suppliers, all showcasing delicious local food and drinks. Confirmed exhibitors for 2019 include Carvetii coffee roasters, Stonehouse Smokery, Lakeland Mues, Tipsy Filly and Eva’s Organic juices, to name just a few.
There will also be a dedicated Drinks Hall, for our local gin and drink producers to showcase their bestsellers. And Rheged will be running a pop-up bar and lounge for visitors to relax throughout the day.
Throughout the weekend, visitors can enjoy a diverse programme of free talks and hands-on demos from renowned chefs and experts where they can learn new skills, as well as the opportunity to book on to unique ticketed experiences.
On Saturday 14th September, visitors can book a place on a Wine Pairing Lunch Experience. Where professional head chef Scott Fairweather from the Black Swan at Ravenstonedale will showcase some of the best Cumbrian produce with a 3-course meal and Richard Bracken, wine sommelier from Grapevine, will serve and discuss the perfect wine pairing for each course.
On Sunday 15th September, join a professional collaboration of chefs including Oli Martin, head chef at Hipping Hall and finalist on Masterchef 2018, Ryan Blackburn chef and owner of The Old Stamphouse in Ambleside, and Nick Edgar from Ryebeck. They will be creating a six small plate taster menu, with each course perfectly matched with an accompanying drink. Diners will also have the chance to discuss the menu with each chef and ask any foodie questions.

Cumbrian mental health charity and organic growing enterprise Growing Well is involved in the new show as a charity partner.
Growing Well, which helps people recover from mental health difficulties by providing work, support and training in horticulture and catering on its six-acre organic fruit and veg farm at Low Sizergh near Kendal, will be showcasing its wonderful fresh, local produce at the show, explaining its vital work, and supplying ingredients for some of the special events and chef demonstrations.
