A MAN who flashed a knife at a female Carlisle shop worker while drunk has been jailed by a judge.
Keith Rogers, 33, was also heard threatening to stab a man while inside the Spar shop on Petteril Bank Road, Harraby, at around 10pm on June 8.
Police attended, caught up with Rogers near the store and found a knife in his pocket.
He admitted a blade possession charge at Carlisle Crown Court, where it emerged he had served lengthy prison terms in the past for robbery and drug-dealing crimes, and also had offensive weapon possession and assault offences on his criminal record.
David Wales, defending, described Rogers, of Atkinson Crescent, Carlisle, as a “hopeless alcoholic”.
“This is not a man who was drunk and dangerous. This was a man who was drunk and stupid,” said Mr Wales.
Rogers was jailed for 10 months. “Your position is significantly aggravated by your record,” Judge Brian Cummings QC told him. “Overall this is an alarming situation as you were drunk with a dangerous weapon with a background of very serious crime, including violence.”
