Man killed after taxi crashes into wall near Haltwhistle

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision in the Greensyke area of Haltwhistle yesterday (Tuesday).

Shortly after 1.30pm yesterday (Tuesday), police received a report that a taxi had collided with a wall while travelling between Clattering Causeway and Plenmeller.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: “Officers and emergency services attended and sadly found a male, believed to be in his fifties, deceased at the scene.

“The man’s family are currently being informed and supported by specialist officers at this difficult time.

“An investigation is ongoing into the collision and police are eager to hear from anybody who witnessed the incident, or who was in the area at the time and might have dashcam footage.”
