Firefighters tackle Penton barn blaze

One fire engine from Longtown assisted by one fire engine from Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have responded to reports of an outbuilding fire on the C1006 to Kershopefoot in Penton.

Fire crews were called at 6:33am today, Wednesday 17 July.

A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Firefighters used two breathing apparatus, three hose reel jets to extinguish the fire involving a large quantity of straw inside a barn.

“Crews were in attendance at the incident for over three hours.”
