Local animal charity looking for short story writers of any age

As part of celebrating their 110th Anniversary Oak Tree Animals’ Charity wants to give their supporters the chance to get involved and be in with a chance of winning a 7-night stay in a beautiful holiday cottage in the Borrowdale Valley!

The Charity is appealing to writers of all ages to put pen to paper and submit stories, of no more than 500 words, that emphasise the bond and love between a human and an animal. The subject could be a pet, a wild animal, a furry resident at Oak Tree or even an imaginary character. The story could be fictional or real-life experience; past, present or future; as long as the bond between the human and animal shines through the text, anything is possible.

Children – do you have a furry best friend you want to write about or let your imagination run wild?

Teachers – are you looking for a project to give your pupils over the summer holidays?

Parents – are you looking for something creative for your children to do during the long break?

Pet owners – an opportunity to record your journey of love with your pet, living or sadly no longer with you.

The closing date for entries is 1st October 2019 and can be either posted (along with illustrations if you would like to) to Oak Tree Animals’ Charity, Oak Tree Farm, Wetheral Shields, Carlisle, CA4 8JA or email your entry to [email protected]. Please ensure you provide your full name, contact details and an indication of your age, when submitting your entry.

Good luck and get writing!
