A free week of workshops is on offer to artists and students based in and around the Lakes and Dales area. Digital creative team, IMITATING THE DOG, are offering 10 free places for artists from the area to learn the basics of video mapping in a week of workshops at the Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal.
Supported with funding from Great Place: Lakes & Dales, participants on the ‘LEAP’ programme will learn how to make their own video mapping artwork. During the week, participants will work with IMITATING THE DOG artists to learn about storytelling through video mapping to create a piece of work using software such as After Effects, Photoshop, Isadora and QLab.
IMITATING THE DOG Co-Artistic Director, Simon Wainwright said, “This is a really rare opportunity for artists and aspiring digital artists to learn the fundamentals of video mapping. It’s a fantastic medium for telling stories, and we are thrilled to be supporting the next generation of digital and video artists to learn our techniques. I can’t wait to see what they come up with.”

The workshop week runs in Kendal Mon 2 – Fri 6 September and is ideal for students, early-career artists / designers and practising artists from Cumbria, North Yorkshire, Yorkshire Dales, Lancashire and surrounding areas.
