A woman has been taken to hospital after emergency services were called to a report of a person waist deep in water underneath Jubilee Bridge.
At 3:53am today, Thursday 18 hours three fire engines from Walney, Ulverston and Barrow fire stations attended the incident at Jubilee View Promenade, Barrow in Furness.
A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Fire crews in swift water rescue equipment rescued the casualty who was 50 metres in the water before handing the casualty to the ambulance service.
“Crews were in attendance for just under one hour.”
The North West Ambulance Service said they conveyed a female casualty to the Furness General Hospital.
