Detective Chief Inspector Carl Jones, of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “My thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who was sadly pronounced dead earlier this morning and we have specially trained officers supporting them.
“I know this is distressing news for the community to wake up to this morning but I want to reassure you that we have a team of dedicated detectives who will be in the area for some time and are working hard to determine what happened.
