Graham Jones, creator of The Vinyl Revival, will introduce the film and host a Q&A
INDEPENDENT music shop TNT Records, in Barrow, is set to host its first-ever film screening event this week.
The Duke Street store, which opened at the turn of the year, will welcome well-known author Graham Jones on Thursday evening to present his new documentary, “The Vinyl Revival”.
This exclusive showcase evening will also include a Q&A as well as a quiz with prizes to be won.
“The Vinyl Revival” is a 43-minute documentary that follows on from the acclaimed “Last Shop Standing” and is directed and produced by Pip Piper, with contributions from Nick Mason of Pink Floyd and Philip Selway from Radiohead.
It is based on Mr Jones’ book, “The Vinyl Revival and the Shops That Made It Happen”.
Released as part of this year’s Record Store Day celebrations, the film is now heading into a limited cinema and festival run – including this rare chance to watch it at TNT Records.
Mr Jones says: “The Vinyl Revival explores the renaissance in all things vinyl. We hear from passionate new record shops owners as well the established die-hards still going and thriving. We speak with musicians and music industry pundits, experts on culture and music history.
“The film discusses the importance of the record shop and vinyl as a whole. We answer the why’s of vinyl’s revival, the human need for belonging, the love of history, and the stories of how the humble little record shop has shaped so many lives.”
Thriving since it opened at the end of December, TNT Records was included as an official venue for Record Store Day 2019 back in April – which also led to this collaboration with Graham Jones.
Shop owner Dave Turner says: “Graham is a massive champion of independent record shops and he was straight in touch with us as soon as we were announced as a Record Store Day venue.
“I’ve met him and he’s got some amazing stories to tell – as well as this exclusive screening of the official Record Store Day documentary, this should be a great night for music lovers in South Cumbria.”
Thursday’s screening event starts at 7pm, and tickets priced £5 are available in store at TNT Records, 86 Duke Street, Barrow-in-Furness, LA14 1RD.
