Around 2.25pm on Monday 12 August 2019 numerous reports were received by Police Scotland from passing motorists about a female standing on the outside of the safety barrier on the B722 Annan to Eaglesfield road, at the bridge which crosses the A75 near to Northfield, Annan.
Officers attended and both roads were closed down to traffic and diversions put in place while the incident was dealt with.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “About 2.50pm the female fell from the over bridge onto the A75 roadway.
“She was treated by ambulance staff at the scene and thereafter conveyed by air ambulance to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where her injuries are described as serious.
“The roads at the scene will remain closed at this time to allow a full scene examination to take place. Diversions are in place through Annan.”
