Police are in attendance at a collision on the M6 northbound between J39 B6261 (Shap) and J40 A66 (Penrith).
Police were called to the incident at 3:03pm which involved two-vehicles.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “Lane one is currently closed whilst emergency services attend the scene (lanes two and three are open).
“Delays are likely in this area and drivers are asked to plan their journey accordingly.
“It is raining heavily in places in Cumbria with strong winds, drivers are asked to drive to the road conditions in front of them, which may be slower than the speed limit.”
A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “On arrival crews found one heavy goods vehicle and one private motor vehicle had been involved.
“Two casualties self extricated and were handed to paramedics from North West Ambulance Service.
“Fire Crews made the scene safe and were in attendance for twenty minutes.”
