An Eden District Council spokesman said: “Please do not give your card details to these callers they are fraudsters trying to obtain your credit or debit card details.

“If you are due a Council Tax refund from Eden District Council this will always made directly to your bank account not to your credit or debit card.”

If you have any concerns that a telephone call about any Council service is not genuine please telephone the Council 01768 817817.
