On Friday 27th September, Kendal Torchlight Carnival 2019 will take place, road closures will be in place for the safety of event participants, road users, residents and visitors.
Road closures will effect all roads into and out of Kendal. Closures will be in place from 6:30pm until around 10:30pm.
The event will start with a fun run at 7pm and the main parade is scheduled to start from 7:30.
Roads closed in full or part are:
- Burton Road
- Lound road
- Aynam Road
- New Road
- Blackhall road
- Sandes Ave
- Stricklandgate
- Highgate
- Kirkland
- Milnthorpe road
- Romney Road
- Natland Road
Once a road closure is in place no vehicles will be permitted to move on the road, access the procession route or move with inside the route area.
No exceptions can be made. Police would urge drivers who will need to get out of Kendal town between 6:30-10:30am on Friday, to park their vehicles outside of the procession route before 6:30.
A Kendal Police spokesperson said: “We hope that everyone has a safe and enjoyable time at Kendal Torchlight Carnival 2019. It is a fantastic event that is supported by a brilliant crowd.
“There will be a lot of people spectating, so please look after each other. If you are in need of help look for an event official or a member of the emergency services located around the route. Always dial 999 in an emergency.
“Anyone inconvenienced by the event road closures, thank you for your understanding whilst the event takes place. Please plan ahead if you need to travel out of the town during this time.
“We look forward to seeing many of you this Friday, please say hello if you see us.”
