Police Scotland have named the woman killed in a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the A75 near to Palnure, Newton Stewart, Dumfries and Galloway on Wednesday 2 October 2019 as 57-year-old Margaret McClelland from Creetown, Newton Stewart.
About 2.40pm on Wednesday afternoon a two vehicle road traffic collision happened on the A75 road near to Palnure, Newton Stewart.
A silver coloured Toyota Aygo car being driven by a 57-year-old woman from Creetown was in collision with a white coloured Volvo articulated lorry being driven by a 54-year-old man from Garlieston.
As a result, the female driver of the Toyota car was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the lorry was uninjured. An 18-year-old female passenger in the lorry was taken to the Galloway Community Hospital to be checked over. She was later released.
The road was closed and a full crash scene investigation was carried out.
Enquiries into the cause of the collision are ongoing. The Procurator Fiscal has been informed.
Constable Caillie Douce of the Roads Policing Unit said: “Enquiries into the cause of this collision are ongoing and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed it to call us on the 101 number quoting the reference number 2135 2/10. Anyone who may have captured this collision on a dash-cam is also asked to call this number.”
