Following two years of hard work and three public consultations, Penrith Town Council, at its meeting on 23rd September, approved the draft Neighbourhood Development Plan.
The plan has been developed by the Neighbourhood Plan Group from key issues for Penrith raised by the public during three public consultations.
Members also agreed to the re-insertion of a number of green spaces and sports, leisure and recreation facilities which it had been suggested could be removed.
The plan covers a number of objectives relating to Sustainable Development, Housing quality, type and mix, Greenspaces, Culture and Leisure, Wellbeing, Town Centre Car Parking, Traffic Management and the Town Centre.
The completed draft plan will shortly be available on our website and will be passed to Eden District Council who must carry out a further statutory consultation before an independent Planning Inspector is appointed jointly to examine the plan.
Once approved the plan will be the subject of a public referendum voted on by those who are registered to vote in the parish area of Penrith
