Bridge damaged in Appleby hit-and-run

Police are investigating a fail to stop road traffic collision which occurred on the Bridge at Bolton, Appleby at around 2.30pm on Friday 11th October.

A vehicle has collided with the bridge wall causing significant damage to it and left the scene.

It is reported the vehicle is described as being a blue and white coloured HGV low-loader, which was carrying an orange coloured excavator.

It is reported that the vehicle struggled to cross the bridge and caused an obstruction to other road users for up to ten minutes prior to the collision.

Police are appealing to anybody who may have encountered the vehicle in question at the bridge and who may have dashcam footage of it, to make contact PC 2542 Hall on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting log number 123 of 11th October 2019.
