Kirkby Stephen man, 91, charged with alleged historical child sex assaults

A Kirkby Stephen man has been charged with sexually assaulting two girls.

Frederick Arthur Bartlett, 91, of High Weasdale, Kirkby Stephen, was due to appear before North and West Cumbria Magistrates Court  in Carlisle today (TUES).

Court papers show the alleged offences were committed on various dates between October 1976 and October 2014.

The defendant did not attend court for today’s hearing, he is alleged to have committed three indecent assaults, and four sexual assaults.

Six of those offences are alleged to have been against two different girls, the seventh alleged offence is an indecent assault and said to have been against a woman.
