A WOMAN accused of illegally supplying prescription-only medication is to stand trial early in the new year.
Kerry Marie Woodburn, 35, faced one charge when she appeared at Carlisle Crown Court this morning (WED).
This alleges the supplying of prescription-only medication not in accordance with a prescription given by an appropriate practitioner.
The medication in question is gabapentin, which is used to treat epilepsy and some types of persistent pain.
During today’s short court hearing, Woodburn pleaded not guilty to the allegation.
A timetable for the progression of the case was outlined by the prosecution.
A trial in front of a jury, estimated to last two to three days, is due to start at the crown court on January 20.
In the meantime Woodburn, whose address was given as c/o Thorny Road, Thornhill, near Egremont, was granted unconditional bail by Judge Nicholas Barker. She was also reminded to co-operate with the preparation of a document which sets out both her defence to the allegation and the issues she takes wth the prosecution case.
