Two people who were arrested following reports of a man seen carrying a knife in Workington have been released under investigation.
Police were called shortly before 3pm regarding a man seen in the street carrying a knife on the streets of Workington.
Officers attended and arrested a man in Harrington Road in Workington.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “The man, 23-years-old and from the Workington area, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article and affray.
“A woman aged 28 – also from the Workington area – was arrested on suspicion of affray.
“Cumbria Police has not received any reports of anyone having been injured in connection with this incident.
“Officers are aware of online comments suggesting there are people who have information which could assist officers in their investigation but who have yet to come forward.
“Anyone who witnessed a man carrying a knife should contact police immediately as they may be able to assist officers with their enquiries.
“The two people arrested have been released under investigation.”
Officers continue to ask that anyone with information who has yet to come forward does so.
