October is a great time to go looking for the enigmatic red squirrel – the leaves are coming off the trees, making them easier to spot, and the shorter days mean you’re more likely to see them up and about looking for food.
Why not join Cumbria Wildlife Trust on a red squirrel guided walk at Smardale, one of their strongholds in the north of England?
There’s a good chance of seeing the reds close up from the boardwalk and it’s also a great opportunity to explore the ancient woodlands and see some wonderful autumn colours too.
The walk is on Sunday 27 October from 9.30am-11.30am. Booking is required and there is a recommended donation of £5.00.
Please bring binoculars if you have them and stout footwear. To book, please ring 01539 816300 or email [email protected]
