Police are investigating a road traffic collision that occurred at 2:50pm on the 19th October at Aldby Street, Cleator Moor.
The collision involved a Vauxhall Insignia and a pedestrian.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “A 74-year-old man from Cleator Moor was taken to Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle with serious injuries.
“The driver of the Vauxhall from Cleator Moor was uninjured.”
