A CARLISLE man has heard he faces a prison sentence of “some length” for making repeated phone threats of violence to his ex-partner.
Daniel Norman, 29, pleaded guilty to two charges when he appeared at the city’s crown court.
Norman admitted putting Emma Downie in fear of violence by harassment during criminal conduct which was committed between March 1 and May 25 this year. The charge states that he contacted her repeatedly by telephone, “threatening to use violence against her”.
Norman also admitted breaching a restraining order – imposed by a judge last September – by contacting Miss Downie between the same dates.
Norman had faced a number of other allegations, although prosecutor Rachel Woods told the court his admission of two offences was “acceptable” overall.
“They include an incident on May 15 where there was contact between the two parties and a scuffle,” Ms Woods said of the offending admitted by Norman.
No other details were provided about his wrongdoing, and his case was adjourned to November 25.
Norman, of Shadygrove Road, Carlisle, was remanded in custody. But he heard Judge Nicholas Barker say of the likely punishment for his criminal conduct: “A sentence of some length will be passed.”
