One of the more noticeable side effects of cancer treatment is, of course, losing your hair. Fundraising superstar Mandy Carstens from Barrow Market decided to take matters into her own hands and shave her head for charity, supporting her friend and colleague Paul Smith who is currently undergoing treatment at Furness General Hospital.
Mandy said, “I was very to happy raise funds by doing a head shave for the Oncology Unit as I am aware of all the work the staff do for other patients as well as for my friend Paul. The staff are extremely kind and do such a good job”.
Jayne Bickerstaff, Unit Manager, said: “We cannot thank Mandy enough for this great fundraising and also to all her friends, family and customers at Barrow Market who gave so generously. £774 is a fantastic amount to raise.”
