Whinlatter Forest is opening the forest into the night for a unique Christmas Fair on 5 December.
The countdown to Christmas has begun, and what better way to get into the festive mood than experiencing Christmas in a forest setting. Experience the sights, smells and sounds of the festive season in a beautiful Lake District forest.
There is plenty to get you in the festive spirit – find unique gifts for family and friends in the Whinlatter Shop and pop-up stalls, there’ll be crafting activities – from decorating your own bauble to rag-rug wreath making. A live choir will sing throughout the evening to get you into the Christmas mood. Wrap up warm and choose your perfect real Christmas tree with our tree experts. The Alpacas at Whinlatter will be waiting to meet you from 5pm – 6pm. End your evening in Siskins Café where you can treat yourself to a glass of mulled wine and mince pies.
Adrian Jones, Recreation and Business Manager for Forestry England North Lakes and West Cumbria, says:
“Our Christmas Event is something special – it marks the start of the Christmas season and provides a unique festive fair in a forest setting. By joining us at Whinlatter you will enjoy your Christmas shopping away from stressful, busy high street crowds.
December is a magical time at Whinlatter – every year families come to pick their real Christmas trees. Our trees are special as they are sustainably grown, carrying the Grown in Britain certificate. With 100 years of forestry experience, our tree team will be on hand to help you choose from hundreds of spruces, firs, and pines in the fresh, wintery air of our beautiful forest. The money raised from your Christmas tree helps us maintain Whinlatter Forest for wildlife, for you, and for future generations.
Add in festive lights, carol singing, shopping and festive fare, and you’ve got the perfect festive atmosphere.”
Everyone will enjoy free parking for this event, from 4:00pm to 7:30pm. Forestry England members receive 10% discount in the shop and cafe, and 10% off Christmas trees.
You can experience a whole host of Christmas events throughout December at Whinlatter -from family Christmas activities to Christmas welly walks. Visit www.forestryengland.uk/whinlatter-forest for more information.
