Firefighters tackle Cockermouth building fire

Three fire engines have attended a persons reported fire on St Leonards Close, Cockermouth.

Fire crews were called at 10:57pm yesterday, Tuesday 26 November.

A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “The fire involved an under-stairs cupboard within a building measuring twelve meters by twelve meters, consisting of two floors.

“Firefighters used six breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, one covering jet, two thermal imaging cameras and a positive pressure ventilation unit.

“Crews remained at scene around two hours and twenty minutes.”
