Cumbria Police is appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision which occurred on the A590 in the early hours of this morning (27 November).
The collision occurred at around 1.10am on the A590 between Haverthwaite and Backbarrow when a Kia car collided with the bridge.
At this time, it is not believed any other vehicles were involved.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “The driver of the vehicle, a 23-year-old woman, is not believed to have suffered any serious injury.
“The passenger, a 22-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The road currently remains closed but is expected to reopen this morning. People are asked to be patient.”
