A man charged with an alleged rape was due to appear from custody before North and West Cumbria Magistrates Court in Carlisle today (Mon).
The allegation is from Saturday January 11, 2020 in Carlisle, Barrie O’Keefe, 43, is accused of the rape of a man aged over 16, and an accusation of causing a male aged over 16 to engage in a sexual act, contrary to the sexual offences act 2003.
O’Keefe was represented in court by lawyer Tariq Khawam, when the case was to be heard the defendant refused to leave the court custody cells within the court complex.
O’Keefe was believed to be residing in the city, he was remanded in custody to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on February 17.
