Local caregiver, Ann Delahunty, has been described as ’confident’, ‘happy’, and ‘cheerful’ by her clients in the local community, and Judy Clay, co-owner of Home Instead Senior Care South Lakes, says, “We need more people like Ann championing care.”
Judy has been speaking regarding recent statistics which showed that by 2035 there will be more than 650,00 vacancies in the care sector, making it important to highlight the rewarding roles within the industry.
Caregiver Ann, has been with Home Instead for nearly 2 years, and says, “It’s the most rewarding job I’ve ever had.”
Ann visits her clients in their own homes, providing personalised care and companionship and has really gone above and beyond for those that she provides care for.
She has built long lasting, trusting relationships with her clients, and has certainly made a positive difference to her clients and their families’ lives.
Speaking about caregiving, Ann said, “It is a great privilege to be allowed into peoples’ homes and to have the trust of them and their families. To me it is personal, and I am passionate about our clients receiving the high-quality care that they deserve. As a team we ensure that people stay safe and as independent as possible in their own homes.”
Ann continued, “My journey with Home Instead began in July 2018 and what an amazing journey it has been! I started as a CAREGiver and am proud to have reached the top 13 of the national Home Instead CAREGiver of the Year Award in 2019. I became a Senior CAREGiver and now as CAREGiver Coordinator, I am honoured to be passing on my experiences and knowledge to our fabulous team.”
Judy Clay, co-owner of Home Instead, says, “We are so lucky to have Ann on our caregiving team as she lives and breathes the Home Instead ethos in everything she does. She has never missed a visit, she’s always on time, she works well at building relationships with clients, their families, and pets, she reports concerns to the office in an appropriate and timely way and she’s a great support to other CAREGivers.”
Due to increasing demand for homecare services the local Home Instead office in Kendal expects to recruit and train at least a further 50 caregivers to join the team in 2020,and Judy said, “If you are thinking about a career in care, we encourage you to come in for a chat and find out more.”
