Emergency crews called to suspected gas leak in Penrith

Three fire engines have attended reports of a gas leak on Southend Road, Penrith.

Fire crews were called at 10:50am today, Sunday 26 January.

A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Crews evacuated a building and checked for signs of gas using two breathing apparatus and gas monitoring equipment.

“Crews were in attendance for approximately one hour and forty minutes.”
