A “BULLY” who stole cash and a family heirloom from his mum, and then attacked his ex-partner with kicks and punches, has been locked up.
Shaun Davis, 40, lashed out at his former girlfriend at a house in Kendal on December 21.
Davis “ragged” her around as an argument between the pair turned violent. An eyewitness saw him deliver two punches to the face before knocking her to the ground and repeatedly kicking her, to the face, head and ribs.
Carlisle Crown Court heard that she was left “covered in blood”, needed hospital treatment and was left anxious and distressed. She had described being “absolutely terrified” of Davis who, she said, was a “bully” who had made her life “hell”.
At the time of the attack, Davis was on bail having committed an earlier offence described by his own barrister as “wicked”. While given temporary shelter at his parents’ Kendal address after becoming homeless, Davis stole £360 of savings from his mother Dorothy, and pinched a pearl necklace which had huge sentimental value having previously belonged to her grandmother.
Davis, of Cheltenham Road, Blackpool, was sentenced today (FRI) having admitted an actual bodily harm assault and theft. He received respective immediate and consecutive jail terms of 21 months and 32 weeks for those crimes, and was banned by a restraining order from contacting his ex.
Recorder Alex Leach said of the assault: “It is clear that you have caused her considerable anxiety and distress, that you have caused her to feel unsafe in the town in which she lives and that impact of your offending will live with her for some time.”
