The Mayor of Workington, Cllr Janet King, welcomed West House to the Town Hall, Workington, on Wednesday 12th February for a cheque presentation.
Residents from Briarfield Care Home, Stainburn, along with staff and family, enjoyed tea and cake with the Mayor, before being handed a cheque for £300.
West House applied to Workington Town Council for a community service grant to go towards the purchase of a minibus for their care home. The total cost of the bus is £38,000.
The charity is West Cumbria’s leading care and support provider for adults and children with learning disabilities.
Their vision is for children, young people and adults with learning and other disabilities in Cumbria to live a fulfilling life, in the way they want and with the support they choose. They currently support over 200 adults and over 150 children at home and in the community.

Community Service Grants are small grants (for up to £300), aimed at any voluntary or community group in Workington.
