A leading, local, training company is confident that their innovative approach to overcoming the problems caused by the COVID-19 pandemic will enable them to offer apprenticeships to hundreds of local people this September, as planned, including the large apprentice intake for Sellafield Ltd.
Cumbrian based training provider Gen2, is working collaboratively with Sellafield Ltd and other Cumbrian organisations to ensure that their recruitment campaigns remain on track, despite these challenging times.
Over 300 formal apprentice interviews were due to take place for Sellafield Ltd candidates, but these have not been possible due to the Government lockdown. Understanding the need for the interviews to progress as planned, Gen2 and Sellafield Ltd have sought a solution, agreeing to use a range of modern technology to conduct the interviews remotely. The interviews have commenced this week and are proving to be a great success.
It is hoped, that this collaborative and flexible way of working will enable students to start their apprenticeships during the usual induction week in September.
To support existing students Gen2 is also providing a range of remote learning so their apprenticeships can continue.
In addition, Gen2 are offering support for local businesses by providing a range of fully funded courses, via ‘The Edge’ which are being delivered online. Details of these courses can be found by visiting www.gen2.ac.uk
