Two arrested after man seriously injured in Workington

Police are appealing for witnesses to a robbery that occurred at around 6:35pm yesterday (May 8) in the cemetery on Washington Street, Workington.

A man was assaulted before two men searched the him.

A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “Nothing was taken during the incident and the man suffered a serious head injury.

“A 35-year-old man from Maryport has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and remains in police custody.

“A 42-year-old man from Workington has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and remains in police custody.”
