A MAN accused of cocaine and heroin supply crimes is to stand trial later this year.
Simon James Gilmour, 43, faces two charges which arise out of the stoppage of a vehicle – at Burton-in-Kendal services off the M6 in South Cumbria – in which he had been a passenger.
These charges allege that Gilmour possessed both class A cocaine and heroin, with intent to supply to another, on April 9 this year.
At Carlisle Crown Court this morning (TUES), over a video link, Gilmour pleaded not guilty to both allegations when they were put to him by a clerk.
He is now due to stand trial in front of a jury. Estimated to last around two days, this trial is due to start at the crown court on November 5.
During today’s brief hearing, Judge Nicholas Barker set a timetable for the progression of the case.
Ahead of his trial, Gilmour, of Pica, near Whitehaven, was remanded in custody by the judge.
