A MAN has been charged with the alleged robbery of a fellow Workington resident.
Michael Robert Peter Jenkins, 21, appeared at North and West Cumbria Magistrates’ Court in Carlisle this morning (MON).
Jenkins faces one charges, which alleges that he robbed Mark Huddart of £400 cash.
This charge arises out of an incident which is said to have occurred in the Harrington Road area between 2pm and 3pm on Friday, 22nd May.
“A 28-year-old man suffered injuries not believed to be life threatening,” a Cumbria police spokesman said amid reports of an alleged assault.
“The road was closed off while enquiries took place.”
When he appeared before two magistrates today, Jenkins spoke to confirm his identity, that his address was Harrington Road in Workington, and that his nationality is British.
No plea was entered to the charge he faces during the short hearing.
Magistrates committed the case to Carlisle Crown Court, where Jenkins is due to appear for a plea and trial preparation hearing next month.
In the meantime he was remanded in custody.
