A MAN has appeared in court accused of aggravated burglary following a night-time incident at a family’s Carlisle home.
Antony Alan Hext, 25, was brought before North and West Cumbria magistrates in the city this morning (SAT).
Hext faces one charge, which alleges aggravated burglary. This, the court heard, arises out of an incident at an address in Richmond Green, off Orton Road, at around 1-45am yesterday morning (FRI).
None of the occupants of the house were injured during the incident.
When Hext, of Chertsey Bank, Carlisle, appeared in court today, he spoke to confirm his identity and nationality. It was stated by his solicitor that he intended to plead not guilty to the charge.
Magistrates, who heard a brief summary of the allegation from a prosecutor, sent the case to Carlisle Crown Court.
Hext is due to appear in front of a judge at the crown court on July 10. In the meantime he was remanded in custody. No bail application was made during today’s hearing.
