A Wigton man has appeared in court facing two charges of making threats to kill.
Peter Ward, 44, of Kirkland Avenue, Wigton, appeared from police custody at North and West Cumbria Magistrates Court facing allegations of making threats to kill between May 25 and June 1 also on or before June 7.
There is one accusation of assault by beating dated May 25 and two from June 7, also a criminal damage allegation from June 7, another accusation of intimidating a witness between May 25 and June 1.
The court papers show the allegations took place in Wigton.
An outline was given to Magistrates of the seven-allegations, the prosecutor said the allegations were from a domestic violence setting, Ward had allegedly got hold of the victim while she was in her nightie and put her on the floor and stood on her neck. On another occasion he grabbed her from behind, the court was told he had a 5 inch knife in his hand, but it was not touching her neck.
No plea was entered to the accusations today (Tues) Ward was remanded in custody and will next appear at Carlisle Crown Court on Wednesday July 8.
